Description of content: Following the OIE report confirmation of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Hungary, Ministry of Agriculture imposed a temporary ban on importation of Live poultry and poultry products including poultry meat from Hungary. The following are excluded from the ban decision:
1. Specific pathogen free products(SPF eggs)
2. Hatching eggs
3. Parents and grandparent one day old checks
4. Heat treated products

Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reason for urgent action: Due to the risk of the transmission of the Highly pathogenic avian influenza virus to animals and humans through infected live poultry and poultry products, the Ministry of Agriculture has imposed the prohibition on the importation of live poultry and poultry products including poultry meat from Hungary. This emergency action is necessary to prevent the introduction of the Highly pathogenic avian influenza virus that is not existent in Jordan. This prohibition is based on the risk assessment on the importation of poultry from Hungary and referred to in the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code Article 10.4.11, OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code Article 10.4.19 and OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code Article 10.4.20
