协调标准是欧盟委员会委托的认可的欧洲标准化机构（CEN、CENELEC、ESTI）制定的技术规范。设备符合欧盟官方公报（OJ）上公布的协调标准、国际标准（如果没有协调标准）或制造商所在成员国的国家标准（如果没有协调标准和国际标准），可推断该设备符合LVD指令的安全要求。符合协调标准不是强制的，它为设备提供了一种标准的、可重复的、准确的、可接受的评定方法，通常为优先选择的方法。
