Description of content: The proposed amendments seek to:

1.    Establish the definition of egg-related terms, expand the range of ingredients for egg products, and revise the processing standards for egg products;

2.    Revise the microbiological limits:

a. Revise the specification of bacterial counts in milks, low-fat milks, non-fat milks, hydrolyzed lactose milk, processed milks, goats milk and pasteurized/non-pasteurized egg products:

-      Milks, low-fat milks, non-fat milks, hydrolyzed lactose milk, processed milks, goats milk: ≤20,000 cfu/ml n=5, c=2, m=10,000, M=50,000;

-      Pasteurized egg products/ready-to-eat egg product: ≤10,000 cfu/g n=5, c=1, m=10,000, M=50,000;

-      Non-pasteurized egg products: ≤500,000 cfu/g n=5, c=1, m=500,000, M=1,000,000;

b. Revise the specification of Bacillus cereus in milk formulas:

-      100/g n=5, c=0, m=100;

3.    Revise the processing standards for ice creams; and

4.    Revise the microbiological test methods.
