Description of content: This standard is concerned with plugs, socket outlets and socket outlets mainly for Electrical installation and appliances and similar appliances having the following rates: 13A/250V and their methods of test.

Objective and rationale, including the nature of urgent problems where applicable: According to the directives of the Chairman of the Board of SASO issued in 9?03-1430 (6 March 2009) concerning the application of the Saudi Standards related to plugs and sockets, where he has agreed to enforce all traders, industries, importers and local manufacturers to apply SASO standards related to plugs and sockets.
The purpose of these directives to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality of Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Household and Similar General Use marketed in Saudi Arabia and their performance according to their intended purpose and also to reduce the fraud on this vital product because of the harmful effects and the problems occurred for the consumers including electric shock, fire and damage of electrical equipments which will at the end affect negatively health and safety of consumers in Saudi Arabia as well as the waste of national economy.
