Description of content: This Regulation prohibits the manufacture, importation, advertisement, sale and distribution of any fruit juice or nectar which contains non-nutritive sweetener without the approval of the Agency (NAFDAC).
It also defines fruit juices, nectar and fruit puree, and spells out their organoleptic properties, use and limits of food additives, maximum limits of contaminants.
The Regulation specifies that the name of fruit juice should indicate its nature, and spells out penalties for violation.
The Regulation contains 5 schedules:
1. Contains definition and composition of fruit juices nectar and fruit puree
2. Contains the composition
3. Minimum juice and/puree in fruit nectars
4. Uses and limits of food additives
5. Maximum limits of contaminants in fruit juice and nectars.
